Spain's tax agency takes delivery of new offshore patrol vessel
The Spanish Tax Administration Agency (Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria; AEAT) recently took delivery of a new offshore patrol vessel (OPV).
Peregrino I will be operated out of the AEAT's station in Cadiz. The vessel's duties will include patrol, surveillance, interception, counter-smuggling operations, and enforcement of both national and international law within Spanish waters.
The OPV has an FRP hull, an LOA of 35.3 metres, a beam of 6.2 metres, a depth of 3.4 metres, two 12,000-litre fuel tanks, and space for 10 crewmembers and other personnel.
The propulsion arrangement consists of two Cummins QSK60-M 1,864kW diesel engines driving Kongsberg KaMeWa S63-3 waterjets via ZF 8000 gearboxes. This configuration can deliver a maximum speed of 35 knots and a range of over 1,200 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 19 knots.
The AEAT will take delivery of another two OPVs from the same series for deployment at other coastal stations throughout Spain.
