VESSEL REVIEW | Minjiao Xun 2001 – Patrol and traffic enforcement boat to be operated out of China's Xiamen Port
The China Maritime Safety Administration (CMSA) recently took delivery of a new maritime law enforcement boat and traffic monitoring built by local company the Yaguang Technology Group.
Minjiao Xun 2001 (闽交巡2001; “Fujian Traffic Patrol 2001”) has an LOA of 26.4 metres (86.6 feet), a beam of 5.2 metres (17 feet), a draught of two metres (6.6 feet), and a full load displacement of 45 tonnes.
Fast multi-role platform
Two main engines driving propellers will deliver a top speed of 26 knots and a range of 250 nautical miles, allowing it to respond to incidents quickly and stay out at sea for extended periods.
The boat’s missions under the CMSA’s Xiamen Municipal Transport Bureau will include law enforcement patrols, fisheries enforcement patrols, maritime traffic control, and environmental protection.
All-weather capability
The vessel’s electronics include a multi-beam radar that can provide a full 360 degrees of coverage with minimal dead spots, an AIS transponder, and an infrared camera to permit operations even at night or in bad weather. Also fitted is a customised winch that the crew can use to remove debris such as discarded fishing nets from the surface of the water.
Minjiao Xun 2001 will be operated primarily in the waters just off the Port of Xiamen in southern Fujian province.
