The Malaysian Ministry of Interior has ordered a 99-metre patrol ship for the Malaysian Coast Guard Command, to be built within 24 months by Turkey's Desan Shipyard.

The letter of preliminary acceptance for the procurement of the ship was signed by Desan's Chairman of the Board of Directors Cenk Kaptanoğlu and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior of Malaysia Awang Alik Bin Jeman in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at a ceremony held on the weekend in Malaysia.

"In the project, which will be certified by Türk Loydu, advanced technology components such as weapon systems, electronic and communication systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles capable of vertical landing and take-off will be integrated with the contributions of leading companies of the Turkish defense industry such as Aselsan and Havelsan," said Desan.

The "multi-purpose mission ship" was designed to be able to operate at sea for up to 30 days, and will be equipped with a helipad, medical facilities, a detention centre, and four fast interceptor boats.
