Putin says Russian Navy's nuclear weapons have been fully modernised
The share of modern weapons and equipment in the Russian Navy's strategic nuclear forces stands at 100 per cent, Russian news agencies quoted President Vladimir Putin as saying on Friday.
"This figure must be maintained in future," the Interfax news agency quoted Putin as saying.
He was also cited as saying that Russia was going to invest 8.4 trillion roubles ($100 billion) in developing the Russian Navy over the next 10 years, the TASS news agency said.
As of 2024, Russia operates 12 SSBNs, including five Delta-class and seven Borei-class vessels, capable of carrying up to 656 nuclear warheads on 144 sea-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs).
The Borei-class, designed to replace aging Soviet-era submarines, is equipped with the RSM-56 Bulava SLBM, adopted in May 2024, which can deliver a payload of up to 1,150 kilograms.
