Myanmar Navy commissions second submarine

The Myanmar Navy commissioned a submarine into service during a ceremony on Friday, December 24.

UMS Min Ye Kyaw Htin is a Type 035 or Ming-class diesel-electric submarine that was originally built for the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China. It is the second submarine to be acquired by the Myanmar Navy.

Besides performing its primary function as an attack submarine, Min Ye Kyaw Htin will have a secondary training role.
