The US Navy took delivery of the future USS St. Louis during a ceremony at Fincantieri Marinette Marine's (FMM) shipyard on Thursday, February 6.

The future St. Louis is the 10th Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS) designed and built by the Lockheed Martin-led industry team at FMM.

The vessel's commissioning is planned for later this year, after which it will be homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida.

The LCS is the seventh US Navy vessel to honour the second largest city in the US State of Missouri.
