French shipbuilder the Naval Group has floated out the first of two Gowind-class corvettes to be built for the UAE Navy.
The future Bani Yas will be fitted with the Naval Group's proprietary combat management system. Armament will include a 76-millimetre naval gun and anti-ship missiles.
The corvette's yet unnamed sister is under construction at the Naval Group's Lorient shipyard and is scheduled for launching next year.
