Turkish yard lays keel of future Indonesian Navy fast missile boat

Published on:

Turkey's Sefine Shipyard has laid the keel of one of two new missile-capable fast attack craft (FAC) that the company is building for the Indonesian Navy.

The vessel is being built as a variant of an earlier FAC design developed by Sefine Shipyard.

The completed vessel will have a length of 70 metres, a beam of 11.8 metres, a draught of 2.85 metres, and a displacement of 850 tonnes. Two diesel engines and a gas turbine will drive three waterjets to deliver a top speed of over 40 knots and a range of 1,600 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 20 knots.

Armament will include a 76mm naval gun, surface-to-surface missiles, and two 12.7mm machine guns. A decoy countermeasures launcher will also be fitted to provide protection against guided missiles.

The electronics suite will include air and surface search radars, navigation radars, a fire control radar, a DGPS, an echosounder, and an AIS.

The FAC's missions will include anti-surface warfare; anti-air warfare; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and search and rescue.
