Thai shipbuilder Marsun wins multi-vessel order from Oman Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence of Oman signed a contract Tuesday with Thai shipbuilder Marsun Public Company to purchase several vessels, after direct intervention in the matter by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Prime Minister of Oman.
The result of recent development and modernisation plans of the ministry and the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), the order aims to boost the capabilities of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO).
The purchase contract was signed by Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Za’abi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence and Patrawin Chongvisal, CEO of Marsun Public Company.
The signing ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the RNO and several senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
"Purchasing these vessels targets enhancing the performance and capabilities of the RNO," said state-owned ONA. "This also contributes to the march of comprehensive development in the Sultanate of Oman during the prosperous reign of His Majesty the Sultan, the Supreme Commander."
