French shipbuilder Piriou and the Ministry of Armed Forces of Senegal have signed a contract for the purchase of three offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) in a series.
As soon as the contract is in force, which is planned for early 2020, Piriou will begin construction on the vessels.
Each OPV will have a steel hull, an aluminium superstructure, an LOA of 62.2 metres, a beam of 9.5 metres, a maximum draught of 2.9 metres, a speed of 21 knots, and a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. The vessels will also have deck space for two small fast boats for interceptions and boardings.
