Pakistan Navy ships conduct live fire exercise following renewed tensions with India

Published on:

The Pakistan Navy deployed some of its ships to the Arabian Sea over the weekend to conduct live fire exercises in the wake of a terrorist attack in the disputed Kashmir region and the resulting heightened tensions with India.

The navy conducted the exercises within the waters of Pakistan's exclusive economic zone south of Karachi. The exercises commenced at 07:00 local time on Saturday, April 26, and concluded at 18:00 the following day.

The Indian Navy meanwhile launched anti-ship missiles during a series of "test strikes" on Sunday, April 27. The navy said via X that the launches were intended, "to re-validate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems, and crew for long-range precision offensive strike."

Both the Pakistan and Indian Navies have been placed on high alert following an incident on Tuesday, April 22, when a group of unidentified gunmen killed 25 Indians and one Nepalese national in the tourist destination town of Pahalgam in Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Indian officials have blamed Pakistan for the incident, while Pakistan has denied involvement.
