Lithuanian Navy orders high-speed landing craft pair
The Lithuanian- and Latvian Ministry of Defence have awarded a contract for the "common future multi-purpose attack craft" (CFMAC) procurement program to Marine Alutech.
This contract is the second step after a 2024 technical agreement between Latvia, Lithuania and Finland to strengthen regional defence.
Under this contract, Lithuania will acquire two high-speed multi-role attack craft from Marine Alutech, to operate in the Gulf of Finland and Curonian Lagoon.
Thanks to their design and propulsion systems, these boats will be able to operate in extremely shallow waters. They will be dedicated to the Lithuanian Navy and will be operated by members of the Coastal Defence Battalion.
The CFMAC procurement program is also open for other NATO members, provided they have similar equipment requirements and receive approval from the existing participants.
The Marine Alutech model chosen is a multi-purpose high-speed landing craft suitable for troop transport, medevac, evacuation, landing operations, patrolling and escort, minelaying, and combat support.
