Joint venture to provide maintenance support for UAE Navy ships

MAESTRAL, the Abu Dhabi-based joint venture formed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and UAE-based defence technology company the EDGE Group, has been selected to provide in-service support for the UAE Navy's entire fleet of ships.

The contract will be awarded to MAESTRAL by the Tawazun Council, an independent government entity that works closely with the Ministry of Defence and security agencies in the UAE. The value of the agreement is approximately €500 million (US$520 million) over a period of five years.

MAESTRAL will serve as the industrial strategic partner, overseeing comprehensive maintenance management of the UAE Navy to meet key operational and logistic needs and supporting the navy's operations over the next five years.

The ISS Strategic Partnership Project will see close collaboration between Fincantieri and the EDGE Group's business unit Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding under the MAESTRAL joint venture.

MAESTRAL, which was formed in May 2024, specialises in the design and manufacture of naval vessels.
