The future Koln, the German Navy's newest corvette, was christened during a ceremony in its namesake city of Cologne on Thursday, April 21.

The ship is the sixth overall in the Braunschweig-class. It will have a length of 90 metres, a helicopter deck, surface-to-air missiles, a 76-millimetre naval gun, and two 27-millimetre cannons.

The corvette was built by a consortium of German companies led by the NVL Group (formerly Lurssen Defence).
