Abu Dhabi Ship Building's H1 2025 results show revenue and profit drops; newbuild segment remains top earner

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) has posted its unaudited financial statements for the first half of 2025.

ADSB generated total contract revenues of AED517.93 million (US$141 million) in H1 2025 compared to AED704.41 million (US$191.79 million) in the same period last year. Gross profit nearly dropped by nearly half, ending at AED34.91 million (US$9.5 milion) in H1 2025 compared to AED63.3 million (US$17.23 million) in H1 2024.

Cash flows from operating activities also decreased to AED217,000 (US$59,000) in H1 2025 from AED26.25 million (US$7.15 million) in H1 2024.

As for its various segments in H1 2025, ADSB's newbuild and engineering segment, which covers vessels of greater than 24 metres LOA, was the leading revenue contributor (same as in H1 2024), generating AED381.56 million (US$103.88 million) in revenues as well as AED21.91 million (US$5.97 million) in gross profit and AED12.54 million (US$3.41 million) in net profit.

The military repairs and maintenance segment was the second-largest revenue contributor (same as in H1 2024) with AED87.88 million (US$23.93 million) followed by small boats with AED26.72 million (US$7.27 million), mission systems with AED14.52 million (US$3.95 million), and commercial repairs and maintenance with AED7.25 million (US$1.97 million).

Two segments reported net losses during H1 2025: small boats with AED1.47 million (US$400,000) and commercial repairs and maintenance with AED900,000 (US$250,000).

All business segments reported lower year-on-year revenues during H1 2025. Small boats had the smallest YOY decrease from its H1 2024 revenue total of AED27.92 million (US$7.6 million).
