French defence shipbuilder Naval Group hit by cyberattack

The Financial Times reports that French defence shipbuilder the Naval Group was targeted by a recent cyberattack, raising concerns that confidential information on the naval ships and submarines built by the company may have been leaked.

A group claiming to have hacked the Naval Group's databases used an online forum to publish approximately 30 gigabites of data allegedly associated with the combat management systems on a number of surface ships and submarines manufactured by the company.

The Naval Group said that an investigation has already been launched in collaboration with French law enforcement authorities and local cybersecurity experts.

"All our teams and resources are currently mobilised to analyse and verify the authenticity, origin, and ownership of the data as quickly as possible," the Naval Group said in a statement via social media. "At this stage, no intrusion into our IT environments has been detected and there has been no impact on our activities."
