The Malaysian Defence Ministry has awarded a US$200 million contract to Boustead Holdings, Malaysia, to carry out a service life extension programme for Royal Malaysian Navy's Kasturi-class corvettes.

Boustead Naval Shipyard will fulfil the contract over a period of 53 months.

The Kasturi-class corvettes comprise two vessels, the 'KD Kasturi' (F25) and the 'KD Lekir' (F26). The corvettes were built by German shipyard Blohm + Voss (HDW) shipyard in Kiel and were commissioned in 1984. Both vessels service with the 22-corvette squadron and are homeported at TLDM Lumut.
