The seventh Soryu-class submarine has been successfully delivered to the Japanese Ministry of Defense (MOD).

The 84-metre 'Jinryu' is one of the largest conventionally powered submarines in the world.

Built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Kobe shipyard, the 'Jinryu' is equipped with air-independent propulsion (AIP) systems that enable it to remain fully submerged for long periods of time, and advanced stealth technologies.

The submarine can reach a maximum speed of 20 knots and can carry around 65 people.
