Israel has rejected the idea of an international commission into its deadly night raid of an aid flotilla in international waters, in which nine people died drawing international protests.
"Israel is a democracy. Israel has the ability and the right to investigate itself, not to be investigated by an international board," Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to Washington, told Fox News.
The UN had proposed an international commission headed by former New Zealand Prime Minister and maritime law expert Geoffrey Palmer to investigate the assault.
However, Mr Netanyahu has said the objective of the six-ship aid flotilla that Israel forcibly diverted to its port of Ashdod was not to bring humanitarian assistance, but to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.
