VIDEO | Yemeni anti-Houthi forces seize boat carrying Iranian weapons
The US Armed Forces' Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that elements of Yemen's National Resistance Forces (NRF) have successfully seized a cache of Iranian weapons intended for the Houthi terror group.
The NRF, an anti-Houthi organisation, intercepted and seized over 750 tons of munitions and hardware to include hundreds of advanced cruise, anti-ship, and anti-aircraft missiles, warheads and seekers, components as well as hundreds of drone engines, air defence equipment, radar systems, and communications equipment.
According to the NRF, there were manuals in Farsi and many of the systems were manufactured by a company affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Defence that is sanctioned by the United States.
Although CENTCOM announced the successful seizure via a press statement on Wednesday, July 16, it is unclear when or where the actual operation took place.
Video footage supplied by the NRF and distributed by CENTCOM's Public Affairs unit shows that the seized weapons were transported aboard a dhow, a type of vessel common in the waters of the Middle East.
