Authorities have reported the hijacking of a cargo ship by suspected pirates off the coast of Yemen on Thursday, September 10.
The vessel, which has been identified by UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) as the Greek-owned, Saint Vincent and Grenadines-flagged bulk carrier Glamor, was approached and then boarded by perpetrators on a skiff while some 38 nautical miles in the Gulf of Aden southwest of the town of Balhaf.
UKMTO said the ship's crew then mustered in the citadel, and the unauthorised personnel boarded the vessel but were unsuccessful in seizing control.
The crew later confirmed that the unauthorised personnel have disembarked, and the vessel has resumed normal transit.
UKMTO confirmed that all of Glamor's crew are reported safe.
Assets from the European Union's Operation Atalanta naval counter-piracy task force are currently investigating the incident, which has been reported as the 25th recorded ship hijacking to occur globally since the beginning of this year.
No details have been provided on the identities of the perpetrators or the organisation to which they belonged.
Thursday's hijacking occurred just off an area of Yemen not under the control of the Iran-backed Houthi terror group.
