A fuel storage tank caught fire at the Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal during a prolonged overnight drone attack on Russia's Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk, two industry sources said on Wednesday.
Drone debris fell on the premises of several businesses and near a residential building in Novorossiysk, Mayor Andrei Kravchenko said on social media.
The Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the fire or its impact.
According to the sources, a tank containing oil products with a capacity of about 37,000 cubic metres caught fire at the terminal.
Oil exports from Novorossiysk have faced increasing disruptions in recent months from repeated Ukrainian drone attacks, exacerbating a shortage of available tankers and causing loading delays, the sources said.
The terminal can handle up to five million tonnes of oil products a year, or about 400,000 to 450,000 tonnes a month.
According to information on its website, the terminal's storage facilities can hold several types of oil products with a combined capacity of up to 119,000 cubic metres.
The terminal can load tankers at two dedicated berths capable of accommodating vessels of up to 60,000 DWT.
