Technical services Imtech has been awarded the assignment for all the sustainable technical solutions for the new headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Army that is due to be built.
The assignment represents a value of nearly US$42 million for Imtech.
The new headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Army will be housed on the existing grounds of the Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht. The project results from the decision of the Dutch Ministry of Defence to centralise the staff of the Land Forces Command at these grounds. At the same time various other Defence units will be housed here, including the Services Centre Command and the Defence Equipment Command. Around 3,000 defence staff will be employed here.
On March 20, Jack de Vries, Secretary of State for Defence, laid the first stone for the building of the new headquarters. The building for the initial 2,000 workplaces is expected to be completed around the end of 2010 and the total project is due to be completed around the end of 2011.
