

The Philippine Coast Guard and local partner agencies successfully rescued 32 residents after a fire razed a number of houses along the shoreline of Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines in the early morning (local time) of Friday, August 14.
The coast guard received an alert about a fire affecting houses in one of Zamboanga City's coastal areas at around 01:25 on Friday.
The coast guard deployed a small boat to the area, where it linked up with a patrol vessel of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). The coast guard and BFAR crews then coordinated in firefighting operations and the deployment of a rescue boat.
The joint coast guard-BFAR response team evacuated 32 people from the affected area while simultaneously working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading. Local firefighters also arrived on-scene to render assistance.
The fire was declared under control at 03:52. The rescued residents suffered no injuries and have been temporarily placed under the custody of local community officials.
