James Fisher Defence (JFD) has delivered the second of two Deep Submergence Rescue Vessels (DSRVs) to the Indian Navy to enhance the service's capability to rescue personnel aboard submarines in distress.

Aside from covering the delivery of the DSRVs, the £193 million (US$244.3 million) contract signed by JFD and the Indian Navy includes launch and recovery systems (LARS) equipment, transfer under pressure (TUP) systems, and all logistics and support equipment required to operate the vessels.

The contract also includes a 25-year all-encompassing maintenance support service.

The DSRV will undergo a series of sea acceptance trials upon its arrival in India in January 2019.
