Dutch Damen Shipyards Group is to launch its composite Fast Crew Supplier 1605 to the market this month.
The first vessel of the new range, 'DMS Swift', has already joined Damen's fleet. It was reported that special attention had been given to the vessel's ability to withstand extreme temperatures in both air and sea. Built at Damen's specialist composite yard in Antalya in Turkey, the FCS 1605 FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer) is an addition to Damen's aluminium 1605 range.
The vessel is very light and can reach a speed of 29 knots with its waterjet propulsion. With a capacity for 12 passengers, the design of the 16-metre vessel has aimed for comfort with seats positioned more aft. It has a spacious deckhouse and all-round visibility. The new vessel can be delivered in a crew or patrol boat layout where composite building facilitates standardised, series building. The fibre reinforced polymer is resistant to corrosion and easy to maintain.
