Olympic passenger ferry firm went bust before end of the games
The company that was awarded an exclusive six-month deal to provide transport to the Olympic park from Tottenham Hale and Limehouse for the 2012 Olympics, has gone into administration.
The people behind Water Chariots had hoped that traffic chaos would drive visitors to pay £95 (USD154) for a return boat ticket, but the feared traffic problems never arose and Water Chariots stopped taking bookings well before the end of the Olympics.
The company, which named one of its boats 'Usain Boat', and was opened by Prince Charles, said it was to run 120 return services per day. But even after slashing prices mid way through the Olympics, the 80-seat boats remained empty. A number of websites claim that the company has failed to pay many of its staff and still owe money to a number of different catering suppliers.
