Two new 24-metre passenger vessels have been delivered to Gestione Governativa Laghi in Arona, on Lake Maggiore in Northern Italy.
'Albatros' and 'Pellicano' are the latest vessels in an order of eight passenger vessels built for Gestione Governativa Laghi, the Italian state-owned organisation responsible for navigations on the Maggiore, Garda and Como lakes. The boats were built by Cantieri Navali of Chioggia, to a design by Studio Tecnico Bortolato. In order to ensure a low wash from the vessels, the University of Trieste carried out hydrodynamic testing on the hulls at its Department of Marine Technology.
The vessels have steel hulls with aluminium superstructures. Powered by a single 373kW FPT Cursor engine, they can hit top speeds of more than 13.5 knots with 136 passengers on board. The full load displacement is about 60 tonnes.
Particular attention was paid to soundproofing the engine room, reducing sound vibrations. A 15kW generating set/power unit powers the bow thruster and conditioning system. The vessels have teak decks and latest alarms and automation systems.
