Korean shipbuilder Sungdong Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has recently announced that it has won an additional order for tuna purse seiner.
The shipbuilder signed a newbuilding contract on Monday for one tuna purse seiner with Hansung Enterprise for delivery by the end of next year.
Earlier this month on October 6, Sungdong also signed two such vessels with Sajo Industries and Sajo Oyang for each of one vessel.
The newbuilding is the same as the 1,900 tonne purse seiner, of which Sajo Industries placed an order at Sungdong in 2010 and was delivered this year.
Sungdong expects purse seiner newbuilding orders to keep flowing in going forward as it talks with South American and European companies to build around ten such vessels.
Meanwhile, Hansung Enterprise also announced yesterday that it had decided to invest in one newbuilding tuna purse seiner, valued at around KRW24.78 billion (USD22.3 million), in order to replace an older one.
The investment will be completed with delivery by December 25, 2013.
