MSC Cruises and STX France have announced that they have finalised the order of a new 'Fantasia' class cruise ship (U32), the twelfth in the MSC Cruises fleet.

STX France secured the project with  financial backing from French financial institutions, especially from Coface, the French Export Credit Agency, which made it possible for the vessel to be delivered as required by the end of May, 2012.

"MSC 'Fantastica' will build on the success of the 'Fantasia' prototype… [it is] the ship within a ship offering unprecedented levels of privacy and personalised service,"  said Pierfrancesco Vago, CEO of MSC Cruises.
