STX Europe's Rauma yard delivered the fifth cruise ferry, 'Baltic Queen' to Tallink, Estonia, yesterday (April 16).
The US$237.7 million vessel replaces the 'Romantika' and will start operations between the Stockholm – Tallinn route on April 24.
The 'Baltic Queen' is the sistership to the 'Baltic Princess', which was handed over from the Helsinki shipyard in July 2008.
The new vessel will be one of the largest and fastest cruise ferries in the Baltic Sea. 'Baltic Queen' has a length of 212 metres and a beam of 29 metres. The maximum speed of the 2,800-passenger vessel is approximately 24 knots. The ship features 927 cabins, several restaurants and lounges, and a modern conference centre seating 450 people.
