Sosnovsky Shipyard launches second supply ship for Kamchatka

Russia: Sosnovsky Shipyard has launched the second supply ship, 'Sosnovka-2', of project DCV47 (yard number 10501).

The self-propelled Ro-Ro barge with a carrying capacity of around 250 tonnes is intended for bulk and containerised cargoes on the cargo deck, as well as wheeled and tracked vehicles.

The vessel is designed for the delivery of cargo to an unequipped shore by rolling off the cargo via the bow ramp or offloading by the vessel's crane.

The vessel was ordered by the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport. The newbuild's construction was funded through the Federal Target Programme "Economic and Social Development of the Far East and Transbaikalia until 2013".

The vessel is 42.6 metres long, has a level draught of two metres, and a maximum speed of nine knots. The rated power of the two main engines is 256kW each.
