South Korean operator Seaspovill has signed its second ferry contract with Damen Shipyards Group.
Based on Damen's Fast Ferry 4212-series design, the vessel will be named 'SEA STAR 5' and will operate between Mookho and Ulleung-Do on the east coast of South Korea.
The ferry design a high-speed catamaran passenger ferry built to stock by Damen to ensure short delivery times.
The vessel measures 42.2 metres in length and has a beam of 11.6 metres. The vessel can accommodate almost 450 passengers, with 306 people located on the main deck and 143 on the upper deck.
According to Damen, the vessel design ensures good fuel consumption and high speeds on the often-rough Korean East Sea, with passenger comfort a key feature.
Four MTU engines will power the vessel to a top speed of 40 knots.
The 'SEA STAR 5' will be completed and customised according to the requirements of Seaspovill at Damen Shipyards Singapore for an early 2015 delivery.
