Scandlines' 2024 revenues remained "stable" despite economic challenges
Danish transport company Scandlines recently published its 2024 annual report, which indicates that the company achieved revenues of €465 million (US$521 million) during the previous year.
Scandlines said revenues in 2024 remained "stable" year on year. This is partly due to what the company called, "a record-breaking summer season," with around 6.4 million passengers being transported by its fleet of ferries.
"Despite a challenging macroeconomic environment, our commitment to efficiency, innovation, and sustainability has kept us on course," Scandlines said via a social media post.
Major highlights mentioned by the company include: construction of a new zero local-emission freight ferry, which is scheduled for commissioning later this year; advanced preparations to convert two ferries to plug-in hybrid operations; and enhanced digital offerings such as dynamic pricing, license plate recognition for vehicles, and a new booking app.
"We continued to strengthen our competitive position in a challenging environment by sharpening our products and services," said Eric Grégoire, CEO of Scandlines. "Our commercial initiatives, investments in fleet and port infrastructure, and focus on customer convenience have positioned us well for future growth.
"We have regained terrain and secured market share in recent years as traffic volumes have recovered in the wake of Covid-19 and related travel restrictions. The rebound was replaced by stabilisation in 2024 as macroeconomic conditions in our key markets were challenging."
Grégoire remarked that, on this backdrop, Scandlines generated steady revenue of €465 million and a slightly improved result before tax of €125 million (US$140 million).
