Polferries, Unity Line and Euroafrica to combine forces

During the International Maritime Congress last week, Polferries, Unity Line and Euroafrica announced a strategic partnership, resulting in a new company called Polsca Baltic Ferries.

"This is the beginning of a new stage in the harmonisation of Polish ferry carriers," said Polferries. "We believe that joint activities will bring new development opportunities and strengthen Polish's position on the map of maritime transport."

Polferries (Polska Żegluga Bałtycka) was founded in 1976 and operates on the Gdańsk–Nynäshamn and Świnoujście–Ystad routes.

Euroafrica Shipping Lines (HASS Holding) is a shipowner specialising in general cargo and project cargo transport between Northern Europe and West Africa.

Euroafrica is a co-founder of Unity Line, which has operated passenger and cargo ferries on the Świnoujście–Southern Sweden routes since 1991.

The partnership will result in the creation of the largest player in ferry transport on the Baltic Sea.

Polsca Baltic Ferries has promised an increase in operational and fleet efficiency, an expansion of the ferry connection network, and improved quality of service.
