Oresund Line passenger numbers rise in July, nearing one million
The Øresund Line (Øresundslinjen) ferry service between Helsingør, Denmark, and Helsingborg, Sweden, transported a total of 995,522 passengers in July, a slight increase from the 977,346 passengers carried in the same month last year. Operator Molslinjen noted that this was the highest July passenger count since the post-pandemic summer of 2022.
Both pedestrian and vehicle passenger segments contributed to the growth, with each category increasing by just over 9,000 people compared to the previous year. The number of passenger cars transported saw a solid four per cent increase to 158,764, which was the highest number for the month since 2022.
The restaurants on board the route's ferries, Aurora and Tycho Brahe, also set a new record for the month, serving 21,030 guests. This figure was almost eleven per cent higher than in July 2024.
Kristian Durhuus, CEO of Molslinjen, stated that the weather affects interest, particularly among walk-on passengers, and that just "one less cloudburst" would have pushed the monthly total over the one million mark. He added that the year-to-date trend remains positive compared to last year and that August has had an excellent start.
