OBITUARY | Gotlandsbolaget board member Eric D Nilsson has passed away
Eric D Nilsson of the Swedish ship and ferry operator Gotlandsbolaget passed away last week.
Eric became part of Gotlandsbolaget in the mid-1960s and over the years held a number of senior positions, including as honorary chairman of the company's board since 1989.
"It is with great sadness that we have received the news that Eric D Nilsson has passed away," said a statement from Gotlandsbolaget.
"He has played a crucial role in shaping the company's development and success, and his ability to make wise ship deals is known far beyond Sweden's borders.
"Eric's many years at the helm, his tireless commitment and visionary leadership not only developed the company, but has also contributed to the development of the community on Gotland.
"Eric's focus on making Gotland accessible through modern traffic systems and new ships has been absolutely crucial to Gotland's development.
"We at Gotlandsbolaget would like to express our deep appreciation for Eric's leadership, which has made the group what it is today. We carry with us many experiences and fond memories of Eric's warm humor and personal commitment to all activities within the company as well as to the Gotland community at large
"Our warmest thoughts go to his wife Marieann and children Jan-Eric, Björn and Ann-Marie and their families.
"We will always remember Eric with great respect and gratitude, and we honor the memory of a leader who has shaped both Gotlandsbolaget and Gotland society."
