Lengthened ferry rejoins Stena Line fleet

Stena Line has resumed operational sailings of the Ro-Pax ferry Stena Lagan following a modification program that increased its length by 36 metres.

The vessel, which has since been renamed Stena Scandica, underwent the lengthening at Sedef Shipyard in Turkey. The modification increased the vessel's passenger capacity to 970 and its freight capacity to 2,875 lane metres.

The interior and onboard facilities have also been upgraded while additional features such as hybrid scrubbers and ballast water cleaning systems have been incorporated as well.

Sedef Shipyard will soon begin similar lengthening works on sister vessel Stena Mersey, which will be renamed Stena Baltica after it rejoins the Stena Line fleet.

Stena Scandica will be operated on Stena Line's Nynäshamn-Ventspils and Liepaja-Travemünde routes on the Baltic Sea.
