Ex-Unity Line ferry sold to Greece's A-Ships

Published on

Greece's A-Ships Management has expanded its fleet of Ro-Pax ferries with the recent acquisition of a vessel formerly operated by Polish shipping company Unity Line.

Wolin was originally built in 1986 as a pure rail cargo ferry but was later modified to accommodate wheeled vehicles and passengers. The vessel was renamed Golden Carrier on Tuesday, March 18, shortly after being acquired by its new owners.

The ferry has also had its registry switched from the Bahamas to Cyprus.

Golden Carrier will depart for Greece before the end of the week. It will then undergo additional modifications before being cleared to operate on A-Ships' Mediterranean routes beginning in June 2025.

The modifications will include installation of a new vehicle ramp to provide direct access between decks three and five, refurbishment of the passenger spaces, and conversion of one of the existing ramps into a stern ramp to enable entry and exit via the main vehicle deck.
