Tongan authorities have formally identified the hull of the sunken ferry, 'Princess Ashika'.
On August 18, an underwater vehicle used by the New Zealand Navy diving team formally identified the vessel when it sighted its name plate. The vessel was lying in an upright position about 110 metres from the surface of the Pacific Ocean.
Tongan authorities admit, however, that the retrieval costs of the vessel might prove to be too expensive.
Meanwhile, the death toll of the August 5 ferry disaster was revised from 93 to 72, based on updated passenger lists and interviews with survivors.
