A Kenyan-flagged fishing vessel, 'Sakoba', which was hijacked on March 3 east of Dar Es Salam in Tanzania, has recently been released, according to the European Union Naval Force Somalia (EU NAVFOR).
EU NAVFOR Somalia's 'Operation Atlanta' freed the vessel, as well as a Norwegian-flagged tanker from Somali pirates.
The force's main tasks have been to escort merchant vessels carrying humanitarian aid of the World Food Programme and vessels of African Union Mission in Somalia, and to protect vulnerable vessels in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.
EU NAVFOR also monitors fishing activity off the coast of Somalia.
