Spanish boat builder Astilleros Armon has recently delivered the ferries 'Macôco' and 'Panguila' to the Instituto Marítimo e Portuário de Angola.
Operated by TMA Express, the 30-metre vessels are the first deliveries of a mixed five-vessel order ¬– all of which will be built by Astilleros Armon.
The other three vessels include two 36-metre ferries, as well as a 20-metre catamaran buoy work boat, which Armon is building for Angola's Instituto Hidrográfico e de Sinalização Maritíma de Angola.
Flagged in Angola, each 30-metre ferry can transport 136 passengers. The hulls of each vessel, meanwhile, accommodate cabins for four crewmembers, as well as a galley, mess, and dedicated harbour generator.
The vessel's upper deck, meanwhile, houses a 360-degree wheelhouse for improved visibility.
Powered by a 970kW engine package, the vessels performed well in sea trials, reaching top speeds of over 27 knots. Service speed for the vessels is 25 knots.
Featuring rugged and simple engineering, each vessel measures 29.6 metres in waterline length, with beams of 8.5 metres, draughts of 1.6 metres, and depths of 3.25 metres.
