Bulgaria: The Mayor of Nikopol, Valery Zhelazkov, has said that a new ferry line linking Turnu Magurele, Romania, and Nikopol, Bulgaria, would be launched in October, after the completion of a 10km section of road.

"We are ready to launch the ferry once the Nikopol-Pleven Road has been completed," he told Sofia Morning News.

Two ferries, each capable of carrying up to six heavy vehicles and 30 light vehicles, will make twelve round trips per day. Each trip should take about ten minutes.

The contracts for the ferries were signed in 2004.

There are three other ferry lines between Romania and Bulgaria: Vidin-Calafat, Silistra-Calarasi, Oriahovo-Bechet.
