VESSEL REVIEW | Liuheng 10 – Large inter-island sightseeing vessel to be operated in China's Zhejiang province
Chinese shipowner Zhejiang East Transportation Investment and Development has taken delivery of a new large sightseeing vessel built locally by Jiangxi Jiangxin Shipbuilding.
Liuheng 10 (六横10) has an LOA of 47.2 metres (155 feet), a beam of 8.5 metres (28 feet), a draught of only 1.9 metres (6.2 feet), a depth of 3.4 metres (11 feet), a deadweight of approximately 64, a gross tonnage of 495, and space for 320 passengers.
The vessel was constructed to be able to withstand Beaufort Force nine conditions characterised by wind speeds of between 41 and 47 knots.
Two main seating classes with accompanying amenities
Two Cummins K50-M1398C2 1,398kW (1,875hp) main engines propel the vessel to a service speed of 17 knots, while power for the various onboard systems is supplied by two Kangfu SB-HW4.D 120kW generators.
The vessel boasts three decks with passenger seating. The upper deck features adjustable leather seats and retractable tables while the middle and main decks have been laid out as economy seating areas with USB charging ports.
Serving a vital tourist route in eastern waters
The middle deck also has a washbasin that provides both hot and cold running water.
Liuheng 10 was built in compliance with China Classification Society requirements. She will be operated primarily between the islands of Liuheng and Zhoushan in Zhejiang province.
