Cascade Cycleboats of Bend, Oregon, is set to launch NYC Cycleboats, a new tour boat service in New York Harbor that will utilise a fleet of "passenger-driven" stern paddlewheel vessels, on May 3.
Each 25-foot (7.62-metre) aluminium catamaran has seating for 10 passengers whose pedaling will generate power for a 50hp (37kW) outboard engine that could also run on petrol. There is also space for an additional six passengers on each boat.
Tours will each have an approximate duration of 100 minutes. The boats will depart NYC Cycleboats' terminal in Liberty Harbor Marina in Jersey City, New Jersey, and will cruise around New York's Ellis Island where the Statue of Liberty is located.
