Italian Fincantieri Monfalcone Shipyard has had the keel laying ceremony for the new unit for cruise-line company Princess Cruises, one of ten cruise ship brands owned by Carnival Corporation.
The new vessel will go to sea in 2017 and it will be the first vessel to be designed and built specifically for the Chinese market.

With its 145,000GRT, the ship will accommodate 3,560 passengers. It will be built on the basis of the twin vessels 'Royal Princess' and 'Regal Princess', which were built in the same shipyard and completed in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Fincantieri has built 70 cruise ships since 1990 (of which 47 from 2002) and another 14 ships are currently being designed or built in the Group's yards.
