The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group's (ISSG) new passenger and cargo vessel Scillonian IV departed Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on Saturday, October 31, to begin her delivery voyage to the UK.
The 75-metre vessel is sailing via the Cape of Good Hope to Piriou's shipyard in Concarneau, France. ISSG expects the vessel to spend roughly three weeks in Brittany, with a final survey taking place before delivery.
From Brittany, Scillonian IV will sail to Penzance for final delivery formalities and surveys. She will then proceed to the Isles of Scilly so the crew can familiarise themselves with the vessel, conduct harbour trials, and complete operational preparations ahead of entering service in March 2027.
Scillonian IV was built by Piriou in Vietnam and technically accepted on October 7. She has a length of 74.85 metres, a beam of 12.8 metres, a draught of three metres, and a gross tonnage of 2,200.
The ferry can carry up to 600 passengers and is capable of 16 knots in a 2.5-metre sea state.
