Bornholmslinjen, an affiliate of Danish ferry operator Molslinjen, carried 373,043 passengers to and from Bornholm in July 2026, its second-highest monthly traffic figure, representing a 4.4 per cent increase from 357,232 passengers in July 2025.
Vehicle traffic also increased, with 99,811 cars transported during the month, up 5.7 per cent from 94,399 a year earlier. The latest figures bring the route closer to its July passenger record set in 2023.
The strong traffic performance was accompanied by schedule disruptions that resulted in a penalty of slightly more than DKK1.3 million ($201,000) being paid to the state.
Molslinjen Commercial Director Lucas Kragh acknowledged the delays, saying the operator and its passengers were dissatisfied with the disruptions.
The company attributed some of the delays to the ongoing reconstruction of Rønne Harbour and speed restrictions in Ystad. However, Bornholmslinjen said it would conduct a further investigation into the causes of the disruptions during the peak summer period.
“We always evaluate after the peak season, when we know our operation is under maximum pressure, but we owe it to Bornholm, the tourists, and ourselves to go in depth and hopefully find answers and solutions that make next year's July better,” Kragh said.
