Somec Group announces new cruise ship contracts worth over €110m
Italian engineering company Somec has announced that its business units have won new contracts for cruise ship projects with a total value of over €110 million.
The first agreement is with Fincantieri for three ships for Carnival Cruise Line, with one under option. Somec will supply pre-fabricated balcony module systems and window frames, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2028.
A second agreement with French builder Chantiers de l'Atlantique covers the supply of balcony packages for one Oasis-class ship for Royal Caribbean Group, set for delivery in the first half of 2028.
In addition, the company's brand Oxin will undertake construction and complete fitting out of the laundry and catering areas on a new cruise ship for Japan's Ryobi Holdings, being built at the West Sea shipyard in Portugal. Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Oxin will also be involved in building the kitchens and catering areas for six new Viking ships at Fincantieri, four of which are subject to an option. The ships will be delivered between 2030 and 2033.
