Silversea Cruises held a formal naming ceremony for Silver Ray, the company's newest cruise ship, in Portugal's capital city of Lisbon on Wednesday, June 12. The newbuild is a sister of Silver Nova, which was delivered to Silversea Cruises in 2023. Construction of both ships was undertaken by German shipyard Meyer Werft.

The Nova-class ships are the largest and most spacious of the Silversea fleet, thanks to what the company calls a "horizontal" design. This change in layout translates into additional space for accommodating a greater number of amenities.

Measuring 243 by 30 metres and with a gross tonnage of 54,700, Silver Ray features numerous restaurants, bars, lounges, a pool area covering 130 square metres, a cafe, a spa, a fitness centre, a casino, boutique shops, a library, and 364 all-balcony guest cabins across 13 categories. The ship will accommodate 728 guests will be crewed by 544 personnel.

Silver Ray will depart on its maiden voyage from Lisbon on Saturday, June 15. The ship will spend its inaugural season in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic to the Americas this December.
